Performing Arts Centre Iceland began operations in 2022 and is founded by all the main stakeholders in the performing arts in Iceland. The centre is run with support from the Ministry of Culture and Commerce.
Performing Arts Centre Iceland plays a role in supporting Icelandic performing arts and increasing their visibility and complicity in Iceland and abroad.
The Centre intends to achieve its purpose through strong promotional and specific initiatives that encourage international relations among performing artists and institutions in Iceland. The Performing Arts Centre also provides information, conducts education and conducts courses.

The Board of Directors consists of three representatives and three alternates. Its role is to make decisions on the granting of travel grants as well as other grants allocated by the Centre and is advisory on major international projects created in the field of performing arts.
