Performing Arts Centre IcelandThe National Theatre, City Theatre and Reykjavik Arts Festival offer a two-day workshop on relaxed performance for neurodivergent audiences.
In recent years, 'relaxed performances ' have been developed as a way to ensure that the performing arts are accessible to a wide and diverse audience, including individuals with neurodivergent (also sensory, neurodivergent).
The aim of our course is to increase the understanding and skills of producers of stage works and venues to adapt venues and performances to different audiences. " Relaxed showmanship" considers all the points of connection between sensible individuals and performing arts performances, from information and reception, to content and staging. The course takes place in English and is intended for performing arts professionals.
We have teamed up with consultant Zoe Halliday to lead the workshop. Zoe herself is a perceptive performing artist from Scotland and founded RAP: Relaxed Accessible Performance, which specialises in consulting, teaching and training in relaxed performance. Zoe also works as Accessibility Manager for CCA in Glasgow.
In recent seasons there have been calls for more inclusion, diversity and accessibility in the country's theaters. It is our hope that this course will take one step to make the performing arts an accessible and enjoyable experience for everyone.
