Translation grants in March 2024

Performing Arts Centre advertises open for applications for translation grants. The deadline for applications is 2.  April at 16:00

The aim of translation grants is to arouse interest, increase visibility and demand for Icelandic plays and performing arts works abroad.

A translation grant is awarded to support the translation of original Icelandic plays into other languages. The play must have been premiered in Iceland before applying for a translation.

It is also possible to apply for a grant for subtitle for Icelandic stage works for performance outside Iceland. Note that Performing Arts Centre does not fully finance translations.

A condition for the grant is that the translation is prepared directly from Icelandic and that there is an intent to present the work abroad. Support for adaptation or production costs is not covered by this subsidy. Translation grants from the Icelandic Performing Arts Centre are awarded twice a year.
